Principal's Message

The Academy @ Hays is an alternative school of choice. Since the opening of the campus in the fall of 2000, A@H has served students who are seeking a smaller more self paced academic program.

The primary focus of the A@H is to expedite grade level progress and high school completion. Much of the curriculum is project-based learning, where the different disciplines are integrated together to produce greater comprehension and cultural literacy. There are some courses offered in a traditional format to increase student’s knowledge of curriculum. There are also self-paced off-line courses offered to juniors and seniors that may be used for accelerated graduation or credit recovery.

The school year 2008-2009, the Academy will move to its new location. The South Campus at Hays High School is currently under construction to serve as the new home of the A@H.

All Hays CISD high school students are welcomed to apply. Students must go through an application process and interview to enter the Academy. Applications are available in Hays and Lehman High School counseling offices and at the Academy or online.

Curriculum:

A three pronged path is offered to students @ The Academy; Classical, Contemporary, and Renaissance. This methodology is formatted to meet the individual student’s academic needs.
