Barton Hills was named after William Uncle Billy Barton who set up a homestead sometime in 1837. But it was only in the 1930s to 1940s when it experienced a boost in home sales. Primarily a residential area, the Barton Hills area consists of many subdivisions including Barton Terrace, Fortune Estates, Horseshoe Bend and Rabb Inwood Hills.
Barton Creek Greenbelt - Beside the Barton Hills Neighborhood is the greenbelt. This nature preserve includes many trails that hikers and cyclists have enjoyed for decades.
Zilker Metropolitan Park - The 351 acre park has something for everyone. Zilker hosts many annual events, and includes some unique activities. The botanical gardens and Austin Nature and Science center are two of the facilities hosted by Zilker Park.
