ABoR hones in on region’s mobility issues as Central Texas continues to grow

Austin Board of REALTORS® releases real estate statistics for February 2016

AUSTIN, Texas – March 21, 2016 – According to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS®, Austin-area single-family home sales increased by 2.9 percent to 1,783 home sales in February 2016 compared to the same month the year prior. Median single-family home price also increased 8.0 percent year-over-year, reaching $269,900 in February 2016.

This continued market growth further emphasizes the need for major improvements to reshape the transportation future of Central Texas.

Austin Board of REALTORS® releases real estate statistics for January 2016

AUSTIN, Texas – February 22, 2016 – According to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS®, Austin-area single-family home sales dropped slightly in January 2016 compared to the same month the year prior. Home sales decreased by 1.9 percent year-over-year to 1,459 home sales and median price increased 6.3 percent year-over-year, reaching $254,999 in January 2016.

AUSTIN, Texas – November 19, 2015 – Austin-area single-family home sales increased year-over-year for the fifth consecutive month in October 2015, according to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR). Austin-area single-family home sales increased by two percent year-over-year to 2,378 home sales and median price increased five percent by the same measure to $252,790 in October 2015.

With Austin-area home sales up for another month in September, Central Texas REALTORS® urge homebuyers to vote for housing affordability on Nov. 3.

AUSTIN, Texas – October 22, 2015 – According to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR), Austin-area single-family home sales and prices hit an all-time high for the month of September. Home sales increased by seven percent year-over-year to 2,603 home sales and median price increased eight percent year-over-year, reaching $258,000 in September 2015.

AUSTIN, Texas – September 22, 2015 – According to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released today by the Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR), Austin-area single-family home sales remained high in August, increasing eight percent to 2,943 home sales compared to August 2014. Austin-area single-family median home prices, for both sales and leasing, set a record for the month of August. Median home sales prices increased by eight percent year-over-year to $265,000, while median home lease payments increased by seven percent to $1,600.

If you grew up thinking of bats as creepy little creatures in horror movies a visit to Austin’s Congress Avenue Bridge will give you a new respect for these fascinating flying mammals. From March through early autumn the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge is home to North America’s largest urban bat population. It is estimated that between 750,000 and 1.6 million Mexican free-tailed bats inhabit this colony.

Every evening a crowd gathers to watch the bats depart from the bridge at dusk, in search of insects to eat. When the bat population is at it highest peak, it can take forty-five minutes for all of the bats to take off into the night sky.
