Bluffington residents enjoy the proximity of Lady Bird Lake where there is the hike and bike trail and water access. Being so close to the city has only one disadvantage; while the commute is very achievable and facilities are innumerable, Bluffington does not fall within the catchment area for the acclaimed Eanes School District.
Bluffington is part of the Austin Independent School District. This district was rated ‘Academically Acceptable’ by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Children attend Barton Hills Elementary (Exemplary rated), O’Henry Middle School (Academically Acceptable) and Austin High School (Academically Acceptable). There are some highly rated private schools in the area however, including Trinity Episcopal School which 2.5 miles away. Local preschools include Child’s Day, Casa Montessori and Park Hill Baptist Church.
A number of shopping, dining and entertainment options entice Bluffington residents to downtown but there are options closer to home as well. Barton Creek Square Mall is a mecca for shopping while groceries can be done at Randalls or the highly rated Whole Foods Market. Magnolia Café and Fabi and Rosi are popular dining hot spots towards the city and Bee Cave Road has many desirable options as well. Diverse exercise options including yoga, pilates and cross fit are available within ten minutes of Bluffington but many locals like to make use of the impressive facilities at Zilker Park which is accessible via walking trails on the Lake.
