Principal Gartzke's Message
As a sixth, seventh and eighth grade campus, Dahlstrom Middle School serves as a vital link in your childs future. DMS bridges the gap between elementary and secondary education. Our students learn how to move from class to class, open lockers, and be accountable to up to seven different teachers. They also learn responsibility for their actions, and are encouraged to try new activities such as band and athletics. At the same time, DMS students learn that academics are extremely important, and that they must push themselves academically in order to be prepared for high school and beyond.
Dahlstrom teachers and staff pride themselves on building significant relationships with our students. We know that students at this age are faced with many intellectual, emotional, and physical challenges. At DMS, we believe we have created a supportive and caring environment that will help students experience pride in academic achievement.
Dahlstrom is fortunate to have active parents and community members. Our PTA is very active and supportive. Many parents volunteer their service to help the school in any way possible. In order to meet the needs of all students, our campus offers a wide range of instructional programs. We provide services for special education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and gifted and talented education as well as Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) courses to help students prepare for the rigorous challenges of high school. This year with the addition of eighth graders, we are offering classes for high school credit such as algebra, geometry, Spanish 1, French 1, and health. Our students are able to get a head start in earning credits that can end in graduating on the Texas Recommended Plan or Distinguished Achievement Plan.
At Dahlstrom Middle School, everyone works as a team to provide a successful learning experience for our students. We appreciate the opportunity to educate your child. Each day, parents entrust us with their childs education, and we take that responsibility very seriously. When students leave DMS, they will be able to demonstrate academic achievement, pride and responsibility.
