Lake Pointe Elementary Curriculum
Lake Pointe Elementary School (LPE) strives to create a positive learning environment geared to meet the needs of students, teachers and the community. Students are expected to gain self esteem, problem solving skills and leadership qualities, and to develop a team player attitude as they acquire a lifelong desire to learn. Teachers, staff, parents and community members encourage LPE students to meet high expectations for learning and behavior. Kindergarten through Second Grade students use phonics based activities to improve Reading, Writing and Spelling skills. Language arts, Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies at all grades are also integrated through units of study. Social Skills and Character Education, including behavioral expectations, are taught daily. Students are expected to make good decisions for their learning and behavior based on what they are taught. In the library, students learn to enjoy literature, use the library and develop research and technology skills. A Reading teacher is available to offer help as needed
Special Area Classes and Support Programs: On a rotating basis, LPE offers Art, Music, Physical Education to all students.
Eligible students have access to special programs such as the Content Mastery Center (CMC), Special Education, the Discovery Program in Gifted / Talented (GT), English as a Second Language (ESL), the mentoring program, and the 504 program of support. LPE offers counseling, health services, after-school extended care, tutorials and community education classes.
