Lakeway Elementary Curriculum

Students at LTE enjoy a wide variety of subjects daily. Kindergarten through second grade students use a phonics based program to improve reading, writing and spelling skills. Students in these grades work on decoding words daily. All students may participate in "Accelerated Reading" and all students are encouraged to read. Curriculum also includes math, science, social studies, health and computer technology. All students have art, music, and physical education on a rotating basis. Students have access to special programs such as:

Content Mastery Classes (CMC), Special Education, the Discovery Program in Gifted/Talented (GT), English as a Second Language (ESL), Bilingual Classes, UIL, the mentoring program, 504 modifications, and a leveled reading lab.

We currently have 9 Bilingual classes with fluent, certified Spanish Speaking teachers. In addition, our counselors, parent liaison, receptionist and principal are also Bilingual. The building signage is available in Braille, English and Spanish.

Lakeway Elementary earned an Exemplary rating in 2007. The campus was also named a Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll School for the second year, and was on the Texas Monthly magazines list of Best Public Schools in the State.
