Manchaca, Texas: The Small Town With A Big Heart

Manchaca, a small community situated just ten miles southwest of Downtown Austin, is capturing the hearts of many. Manchaca is named after a famous military and political leader in Texas called Jose Antonio Menchaca. Another notion about its namesake is said to be from the Manchaca Springs where the aforementioned military and political leader set camp many years ago.

Manchaca, unlike its neighboring towns and cities including Kyle and Buda, has a slow pace of growth. This, however, is the main factor why many people are deciding to relocate here. The peaceful and friendly environment makes the townspeople feel more at home than in any other place.

One of the most proudly built establishments in Manchaca is the Manchaca Firehall. This is a combination of a famous local restaurant and the Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department. The Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department is one of the premiere fire departments all of Texas. It started in 1968 when townspeople of Manchaca realized the desperate need for this kind of public amenity. It only relied back then on donations from generous people for them to buy the necessary trucks and other equipments they sorely need.

The Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department only has three full time employees, the Assistant Chief and two staff. Manchacas fire rescue team mainly relies on volunteers all around town to help them fight fires. The nearest registered volunteer members on the site of the current fire, whether they live or work around the vicinity, are required to respond in time of need. This act of courage proves that Manchaca townspeople indeed have a big heart.

There are other brave souls who reside in Manchaca. The 2001 Pony League of the Manchaca Optimist Youth Sports Complex Organization was one of the major events during that time. The White Sox is the home team representative of Manchaca - a baseball team composed of young thirteen and fourteen year olds. They competed in their sports endeavor well and finished with a fourth place standing.

When visiting Manchaca, you should never miss out on the famous Original Texas Style Bar-B-Que offered by Railroad B-B-Q. A lot of Manchaca guests keep coming back because of the delectable choicest meat cuts which are slowly smoked to perfection. They simply cannot forget the mouthwatering dishes offered in this Manchacas pride. Other newly relocated residents of the Manchaca town made the extraordinary recipes of Railroad B-B-Q their main reason for moving.
