Travis Country Real Estate
Backing up to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the Travis Country Neighborhood still represent a great value compared with the surrounding communities as Barton Creek and Lost Creek. Located just off South Mopac and Southwest Parkway, it takes little time to get anywhere in the Austin area. You can get to Downtown Austin from Travis Country in 10 minutes drive, Barton Creek Mall in 5 minutes, or all the way up to Round Rock in about 25 minutes.
While the convenience is nice, it does not compare to living next to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the most popular greenbelt in the Austin area. With over 800 acres, sheer limestone cliffs, and crystal clear swimming holes, the Barton Creek Greenbelt is true gem! With many greenbelt entrances within the neighborhood, you will find many Travis Country residents walking their dog, hiking, or mountain biking throughout the neighborhood. Road cycling is also very popular among Travis Country residents. Everyday you will see many groups of bikers making their trek down Southwest Parkway out west towards Lake Travis.
Travis Country was first developed in 1973 and continued strong until the mid 1980's when the Texas Real Estate Market took a nose dive. The neighborhood remained unfinished until the early 1990's when builders started buying up the last developable land within the front and rear of the neighborhood. Driving around Travis Country you would think there is plenty of land to build additional homes, however, it's all dedicated greenbelt including Barton Creek and Gaines Creek Park! Very similar to the preservation of the land along Southwest Parkway, one of the most controversial streets in Austin. The reason: SW Parkway runs roughly parallels Barton Creek and is in the Barton Creek watershed. The preservation of water quality in Barton Springs is top priority of many local environmentalists. Battles over development in the Travis Country area are never ending. While housing demand in the area is high, it's tough to get building permits in the area, keeping supply low. Along with the reasonable home values, this makes Travis Country an ideal place to make your next real estate investment.
Among the many amen ties Travis Country offers is Blue Valley Homeowners' Park which includes a community pool, kiddy pool, 2 basketball courts, a pond with ducks, 6 tennis courts, a community center, playscapes, and a large open field with beautiful Oak Trees for evening walks or weekend picnics with the family.
